Het Marvel universum kent vele grote gevechten en momenten die pure comic geschiedenis zijn. Dus voor de website Mania.com was het de moeilijke taak om hier een top tien van te maken. Het is extreem moeilijk om hier een keuze uit te maken, maar vanwege de nostalgie is het The Secret Wars (hier bekend als De Geheime Oorlogen) geworden.

The god-like Beyonder whisks away The Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-Man, Hulk, and numerous villains to Battleworld, where they fight, the winner(s) having their greatest wishes fulfilled. Not only did this mini-series spawn a toy line and a much-maligned sequel ("Secret Wars II"), it set the standard on how "big events" in comics are done. This storyline had many ripple effects: She-Hulk replaces The Thing in the FF, Spider-Man's costume turns out to be a living symbiote and eventually becomes Venom, Colossus falls in love with an alien healer and this effectively ends his relationship with Kitty Pryde (for the moment).
