a dude from Texas named Michael Rorrer has discovered an old box of comics he inherited from his great uncle is worth millions of dollars.

Michael's great uncle apparently had good taste in comics as a kid, because the collection contains 44 comics listed on the Overstreet Price Guide's top 100. Most notably Michael's uncle had Superman's first appearance in Action Comics #1, Batman's first appearance in Detective Comics #27, and the first instance of Captain America punching Hitler right in the goddamn face in Captain America #2.

The comics went on sale yesterday and were expected to bring in around 2-million dollars. Well, that estimate was pretty easily shattered - the collection actually made the Rorrer family 3.5 million dollars. The biggest money getter was that copy of Detective Comics #27, which went for $523,000.
