10) Conan the Barbarian

Long, long ago, before his thick Austrian accent became a national treasure, filmmakers learned to give Arnold Schwarzenegger as little dialogue as possible. His Conan was largely the strong, silent type, but Arnold held his own in the first Conan film, spouting straightforward lines that counterbalanced the heavy-handed philosophy and mysticism that everyone else spouted off about. His clumsy "Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!" is far more memorable than better quotes by other characters ("What is steel compared to the hand that wields it?" "Do you want to live forever?"). But one line of dialogue puts this film in the geek-quote hall of fame, and only one. When asked "What is best in life?" Conan replies, in rote perfection, "To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women." And thus a geek credo was born, one that has been repeated, somewhere, every five minutes since it was first spoken. When it comes to giving us words to live by, Conan is king.
The Big One: There's really only the one.
