Blizzard heeft vandaag laten weten dat er in de eerste 24 uur na de lancering van StarCraft II maar liefst 1 miljoen exemplaren zijn verkocht en dat er in de 24 uur daarna nog eens een half miljoen zijn bijgekomen. Hiermee weet de game beter te verkopen dan World of Warcraft-uitbreiding Wrath of the Lich King, toevallig ook van Blizzard.

The game went on to sell a total of more than 1.5 million copies in its first 48 hours, setting the record for fastest-selling strategy game of all time."
