Upon its release, GTA4 was hailed as the "Citizen Kane moment" for video games. Citizen Kane was the first, definitive movie that proved that films could indeed be legitimate art. Grand Theft Auto 4 is not art. It's just a really good sand box game. The size of the game was scaled back in order to make the world more believable. Yes, Liberty City felt alive, and Neko Bellic was a likable character, but the story was the same unbelievable kindergarten crap from previous entries crafted solely to give you an excuse to shoot the next army of thugs on your mission list. And let's face it; Vice City was still better.
