Department spokeswoman Cherie Ward confirmed today that the fired deputy was patrol deputy Michael Slater, who was employed there for about three years.

"I get paid to beat up n----- like you," the deputy says on the video. "I will take your f------ brains, and I will shove them down your ... throat."

The exchange was put online via a 15-minute video of the recorded audio exchange between the deputy and the other gamer.

Sheriff Mike Ezell confirmed today that the video was brought to his attention Wednesday, and the deputy was fired the same day.

"The deputy and the other man were in the same chat room using Xbox voice chat," the sheriff said. "Once we confirmed the deputy's identity, he was terminated immediately in (accordance) with our standard policies and procedures."

The department "absolutely does not condone the former deputy's comments or behavior," Ezell said.

The video, titled "Cop rages hard on Xbox Live (Best Cop Rage Ever!)," was uploaded on YouTube on Jan. 25. To date, it has nearly 19,000 views.

"This type of behavior will not be tolerated at the Jackson County Sheriff's Department," the sheriff said. "Once we we're made aware of the situation, we took immediate action."
