Paul Bickle, 18, stormed out of his home in Hockley Heath, Solihull, West Midlands after his mother Donna Brown turned off the games console because he kept swearing.

His mother called police but it became too late as the teenager leapt from a motorway bridge.

Ms Brown said she had argued with her son after he kept shouting as he played the violent video game in his bedroom.

'He was upstairs on his PlayStation and started shouting and swearing,' she said.

'I told him it was not acceptable, but the shouting and swearing and banging got worse.

'I didn't go upstairs after that. I was shouting "stop it, calm down." I was really distressed.

'I said "If you don't stop this, I'll turn it off." Then I turned off the internet connection.

'Because he was getting angry and losing his temper, I thought it was fuelling his anger. I had turned it off before because of the state it got him into.'

As the teenager came tearing down the stairs his mother attempted to stop him, but he was too strong and was able to leave the house.

She added: 'Towards the end of his life he was mainly playing Grand Theft Auto, that was his favourite. I didn't like that game because of the violence.

'Sometimes when he was playing games he would get upset.'

Mr Bickle died on February 15, 2013 after he plunged from the bridge not far from his home. He has recently completed a business course at Stratford-upon-Avon College.

Ms Brown said her son had obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and would have to press the buttons of the Playstation a certain amount of times and in a particular order because of the condition. He also had struggled with obsessive behaviour when washing his hands.

She has spoken out about her son's death in a bid to raise awareness of how young people can struggle with OCD and in a bid for people to watch out for warning signs.
