"The Writer" concludes events started in the previous Game Add-on, "The Signal." Previously, Alan Wake was struggling to make sense of his surroundings in the nightmarish reality he found himself in. In "The Writer," he starts to fight back - but it isn't easy. Guided by the mysterious Diver, Thomas Zane, he makes a desperate attempt to reclaim his sanity and take control of his life. In order to do so, he must navigate a landscape that's at the same time intimately familiar and frighteningly alien, and resist the temptation to succumb to the darkness that still haunts his thoughts.

In the "The Writer," the world has become more imaginative and surprising than ever, featuring impressive and atmospheric environments that illustrate precisely how far from his comfort zone Wake has been taken, and how dangerous the threat that haunts him truly is.
