Hoewel wij nog meer dan een maand moeten wachten tot dat Tron Legacy in de Nederlandse bioscopen draait, is in Amerika de film sinds het weekeinde te zien. Dat deze het heel goed deed is natuurlijk niet zo heel erg vreemd, maar met $43,6 miljoen dollar in drie dagen kan je er nu al vanuit gaan dat de film een mega groot succes is.

For their part, the house that Walt and Mickey built should be pleased with the Tron sequel cycling up $43.6 million in sales over its first three days. The film debuted on 3,451 theaters in domestic markets, which amounts to a respectable average of $12,634 per showing. With snow storms hampering the box office for international theaters across Europe, Tron: Legacy made up for another $23 million in foreign sales as well. The third highest foreign gross for this weekend---behind Voyage of the Dawn Treader ($29 mil) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I ($24 mil)---helped propel the Tron release's worldwide debut to the tally of $66.6 million.
