Sony is lekker aan het incashen op de oudere gamers die lijden aan jeugdsentiment, want na Sly Racoon is nu ook Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee aan de beurt. Deze geniale en zelfs erg uitdagende game zal binnenkort als HD remake exclusief voor de PlayStation 3 verschijnen. Dit is wat Lorne Lanning (de bedenker van de Oddworld game serie) er over te zeggen had in een recent interview:

In the March, 2011 EGM interview, Lorne Lanning talks about the resurrection of his creation, Oddworld. Lanning reveals that fans can look forward to an HD remake of the game that started it all, Abe's Oddysee:

"Abe HD is going into production. It's basically Abe's Oddysee being redone in a 3D physics engine as a 2D side-scrolling platformer. So the way Just Add Water wants to approach it, we thought was very smart; they are not trying to reinvent any wheels. It's like, 'Can we make that experience in a new engine, with new tech, in the old way?'"

In the short-term fans of the Oddworld series can expect to see the previously announced Stranger's Wrath coming for the PSN. "For Stranger, it's the same game, but being re-done," Lanning explains. "All the normal maps and the PS3 rendering tech is being taken advantage of on all the characters and on the environments, so it's been really cool to see how well that's coming along. We never had it on [PS2], and the rendering capability of the PS3 speaks for itself, so if we can get the game experience on there, there's nothing else like Stranger on Sony."

As far as XBLA is concerned, the future of Stranger is a bit less clear, at least for now. "We have Stranger all ready to go on XBLA, but the answer keeps being no. We're still talking to them and we're hoping to work it out."
