A few weeks ago, a Mother went to the press to tell a story about how her Son allegedly ran up a bill of £1000 on Xbox LIVE (here). The story eventually hit a number of national press-outlets. One might feel an ounce of sympathy for her, but it seems she's just using the whole situation to get famous and make a dollar or two in the process. We contacted the respective lady with a view to hearing more of her story, but it soon became apparent that she had an ill-targeted agenda foucssed on fame and trying to make a dollar or two from interviews

In order to hear more of her story, we contacted the respective 'Xbox Mom' via Twitter DM's and asked if we could shoot her a few q's to which she responded -

"hey, i cant talk about it for a few weeks as just done an interview, also depends on your terms and conditions.?" (who on earth signs an 'exclusivity deal' for such a story?)

Following another question, it soon became apparent that she was part of something a little bigger, and we asked her if a PR agency was involved to which she revealed -

"well yes I am but it has no clause for internet sites. Do you pay for interviews? I ask as all money paid is going into advertising PAPA"

We then indicated that she must feel very strongly to pay a PR agency for the respective agency, to which she responded -

"because media keep on approaching me and i dont know what to do! Im not after the money back publicly, i just to want make others aware. "

She then tried to ensure we remained quiet as we 'await' a price on the proposed interview -

"well im in talks, lets just say that. I mustnt say any more and this is a private conversation NOT a statement ok? ill come back to you."

Well you know what, we would not pay for such an interview, it is absolutely ridiculous. If she felt so strongly about the issue, she would not be pretending to be a 'rockstar', signing exclusivity deal and requesting fees. Rather she should be happy just to get the word out there. Oh and this all started from a story written by the paper that she works for, the 'KM group' as revealed here at Kentonline.co.uk.

So why did we 'expose' this? Well for starters, we don't agree with this woman slamming Microsoft to pursue who own agenda. Likewise, it is a true wake-up call as to how things we read in national press can be exaggerated to achieve ulterior motives.
