In 1997 verscheen de eerste Bloody Roar titel in de arcade hallen, en vond even later zijn weg naar de eerste PlayStation. Deze fighter kloon waar van er tientallen verschenen in de jaren negentig viel vooral op door dat je karakter in een (vaak typisch Japans knuffel) beest kon veranderen en daarmee wat dit een opvallende titel. Maar na twee PSN releases van eerdere delen zal Bloody Roar 5 als reboot voor de franchise functioneren en in 2012 verschijnen.

In May, Konami announced that they would be leveraging Hudson's network expertise to help create social games based on popular Konami brands. That said, it looks like Hudson may have a future outside of social games yet.

Today, they tweeted that new game in their Bloody Roar fighting games series is in production. It will be a retail title and more of a series reboot. The original cast will return, including Hans, Mitsuko, and Greg.

Bloody Roar 5 is planned for release sometime in 2012. What platforms the game will be available on hasn't been announced yet.
