Vorige jaar verscheen er een remake van Friday the 13th en deze was eerlijk gezegd niet eens zo slecht, en hield de originele film in ere. Dus veel mensen verwachten eigenlijk dat er op lange termijn een tweede deel zou verschijnen, maar helaas werd er vandaag bekend dat deze er niet gaat komen omdat het project 'dood' zou zijn. Misschien dat als de reboot van A Nightmare on Elmstreet het goed doet, dit de studiobazen over de streep kan trekken.

It looks like Freddy Krueger gets the last laugh in terms of his rivalry with other 1980s slasher Jason Voorhees. Despite previous reports that Platinum Dunes was developing a sequel to their 2009 remake, it seems that positive outlook has changed dramatically since last year.

When asked directly on the status of Friday the 13th: Part 2, Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller responded with " it is dead- not happening."

His confirmation of it shifting back to development hell comes just two weeks before New Line and Platinum reveal their modern take of A Nightmare on Elm Street, starring Jackie Earl Haley as the iconic slasher Freddy Krueger.

Produced on a budget of just $19 million, Friday the 13th opened up last February to the tune of $40.5 million. It would go on to gross $91.3 million worldwide.
