Akira Toriyama To Continue The Dragon Ball Franchise?

Ok, I am not sure how reliable this information is since it comes from a website I have never heard of. But according to that site, Akira Toriyama has been convinced to continue the Dragon Ball manga by adding new chapters. It is said this is being done for the promotion of Dragon Ball online.

Crank up the Bleeding Cool servers folks. This morning we received word that Shueisha Publishing Company of Tokyo has convinced legendary manga creator Akira Toriyama to come back and restart the Dragon Ball comics franchise.

Dragon Ball (also known as Dragon Ball Z) is one of the most lucrative comic book franchises in the world. Initially serialised from 1984 to 1995 in Shonen Jump, it has spun off successful animated TV series and films. It has sold well over 150 million copies of the collected volumes. But since then, the creator has only returned to the well for comics once, for a one-off crossover with One Piece. His other works have been shorter, more personal pieces, though he has continues to oversee new animations, and his studio are working on aDragon Ball Online MMORG for release soon.

And it’s in that environment that Akira Toriyama has been persuaed to return to creating new chapters. Partly to help promote the game, partly to earn the boat load of cash he has been promised.

I will look further and see if there is any truth to this at all. So for now, take this only as a rumor for the time being.

New Dragon Ball SD Manga Confirmed

It’s now official, a new Dragon Ball manga entitled Dragon Ball SD will be releasing on December 3rd 2010. It will be created by Naho Ooishi who also did the manga adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s “Hey! Son Goku and Friends Return!” anime special. It will be featured in Super Strong Jump (Saikyo Jump). The official Shonen Jump website even shows a teaser image of what to expect from this manga, which shows a chibi Son Goku and Krillin.

The release date marks the 26th anniversary of the original Dragon Ball manga. So in the next few weeks, expect plenty of more updates concerning this new DB manga.

DragonBall Kai Ends at Cell Saga

We have now got confirmation that DragonBall Kai will indeed stop at the end of the Cell saga and will not continue on towards the Majin Buu arcs. It was speculated some time back that this would happen since the new anime Toriko would be taking DB Kai’s time slot once the Cell saga was finished.

Takeshi Kusao, the Japanese voice actor for Trunks, has stated there are only four episodes of DragonBall Kai left but he hopes the also remake the Majin Buu story. The Cell saga ends with episode 98 on March 27th 2011

So there you have it, DB Kai will be over very shortly. FUNimation has already nearly finished dubbing the Android/Cell saga of DragonBall Z Kai, with new episodes of the Android saga airing every Wednesday and Thursday on Nicktoons. So, for now stay tuned to the latest DBZ Kai episodes and hope they will return and remake the Majin Buu saga as well sometime in the future.

op zich wel balen

ik hoop dat de majin buu saga ook ooit nog word gedaan

New DragonBall Manga Release – Episode of Bardock #1
The latest V Jump has delivered what was promised, a new DragonBall manga based on the game DragonBall Heroes. The first volume is the episode of Bardock (father of Goku) and consists of 21 pages. The Bardock series will continue in upcoming issues as it has been confirmed he will become a Super Saiyan and did not die from Freeza’s attack. So this manga is really a “what if” situation, but very interesting nonetheless. Anyways, you can check out scans of the first volume here! Sorry it has not been translated, if it does in the near future we will post the translated version as well.
