According to the daughter of 55-year-old Orlando Cuperes, her son's PlayStation had been stolen, along with a gun, by a neighbor. When her son and her father went to confront the suspect, an altercation took place. Sugely Cuperes, the victim's daughter said, "He came over here and tried to knock on the door, so they come out, and they come out shooting, and they shoot my dad."

Sugely's father was shot several times in his legs.

The wife of the victim, Lourdes Molina Mendez, pointed out where her husband had been shot. Pointing to her lower legs, she said, "Two, two [times]. One here, one here."

The shooting took place near the intersection of Southwest 280th Terrace and Southwest 140th Court, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Tuesday.

Cuperes then drove his car back to his house where a neighbor called 911. Bullet holes could be seen in Cuperes' car. A neighbor said they heard at least 10 gunshots go off.

"I just heard gunshots and that was it. I didn't think anybody got shot," said one nearby resident.

One man was detained in the back of a police cruiser, but police did not make any confirmation of an arrest.

Molina Mendez is still shook up over the entire incident, all which took place over a game. "I feel nervous; I was nervous," she said as she failed to hold back tears. She also said she knew who shot her husband.

Cuperes' injuries were categorized as non-life-threatening. He was transported to Kendall Regional Trauma Center in stable condition. He was released later Tuesday evening and sent home.
