The Bastard Executioner was het nieuwe geeste kindje van Kurt Sutter die eerder het geniale Sons of Anarchy bracht. TBE was erg traag, slechte acteurs, matig verhaal en ook de omgevingen waren erg lowbudget. Daarom is het ook niet zo heel erg vreemd dat de Amerikaanse TV zender FX er nu de stekker heeft uitgetrokken, misschien moet Kurt maar eens beginnen aan de Spin-off/prequel van Sons of Anarchy in plaats van deze crap. FX has cancelled The Bastard Executioner after one season. Showrunner Kurt Sutter announced the news this morning by placing ads in the Hollywood trades, thanking the cast and crew after confirming that the series would not return for a second season.

Sutter cited a lukewarm reception from viewers as the reason for the show ending. Its premiere episode drew moderate ratings, but its numbers failed to see growth over the course of its 10-episode run.
