in 2003 verscheen de eerste issue van The Walking Dead, een comic die zich onderscheiden door zwart wit te zijn en ging over Rick Grimes een politie agent die wakker werd uit zijn coma in het midden van een zombie apocalypse. Waar deze comic van Robert Kirkman in schitterde was de grofheid die gedetailleerd in beeld werd gebracht. TWD was zo'n groot succes dat de Amerikaanse TV zender AMC er in 2010 een TV serie van maakte, die in 2015 een spin-off kreeg onder de titel Fear the Walking Dead.

Enkel dagen geleden riep de bedenker Robert Kirkman op Twitter of de fans van de comics niet het einde van issue 193 zouden spoilen op het internet, wat een golf aan speculatie voortbracht. Want issue 192 was heel erg heftig en moeilijk te overtreffen en daar vertel ik niks over, want: SPOILERS!! enzo. Nu heeft Kirkman bekend gemaakt dat het 193e deel het einde van de serie zal zijn en fans zijn geschokt. Ook de mensen die de TV show volgen zijn nu bang (of opgelucht) dat deze nu ook gaat stoppen, maar AMC heeft laten weten dat dit niet het geval is. Beide verklaringen kan je hier onder vinden.
